This is the crematorium in the Natzwieler-Struthof concentration camp. The 'heat' from the burning of the dead bodies in this furnace was used to heat parts of the camp.
The cells (where people were tortured and exposed to chemical agents) were built with heating that apparently was never connected.
I did not take any photographs of the rooms where people were tortured.
Sadly, given the many nations of people who were visiting the day we attended, the Americans disgraced themselves with joking, laughing and behaving badly.
Maybe they thought all life is like they see from Hollywood...
