I have wanted one of these for a long time. I finally broke down and bought one. Narragansett Beer used to be made in Cranston, RI. The brewery is gone now but the beer is back (not made in RI, though).
This keg radio lights up (artificial ice on top with two bottles) and gets all AM broadcast stations.
Production date: about 1962-1964

The electronics of the Narragansett Keg Radio is made by Motorola. The can capacitor in the front is actually dual capacitors used as the power supply filter. I removed this and replaced it with two new electrolytics (they would not fit in the can).
The radio plays real well and gets loads of stations.

I supplied power from the Heathkit power supply (the 9-volt battery connector is broken...I will replace that) and used the Sony radio to pick up the signal. The output of the KG-696 is by way of an RCA connector. I just looped the RCA lead over the Sony antenna.
The unit worked spot on and provided a nice zero beat on the Sony.

This RF signal genrator is entirely solid state. I suspect it was made in the 1970's. The source of power is a single 9 volt battery. That's makes this quite portable.
This item was in a box of junk at a local flea market.
