Interrupted is Habitat Christian Community's [habitatcc.com] series that explores Acts 2, focusing on God interrupting life to make the Gospel known. The "!" was used to show the feeling of action, while the God + Man + Gospel are all components in the nature of God's divine plan. For a bit of background, Habitat is a new church plant that is made up of young adults & young families and when we partner with a church to brand a sermon series, we carry the look through bulletin shells, powerpoint slides, video intros and any pertinent web images...basically anywhere it will be visually communicated.
Goal: To brand the sermon series on Acts 2 in a way that way interesting and didn't scream the obvious - Pentecost, tongues of fire, a street scene in 1st century Jerusalem.
Interrupted was chosen because it was felt to be the best way to describe how God seemingly interrupts lives with the Gospel. The background scenes communicate the places where people in our context usually find themselves, traffic, retail stores, coffee houses and cubicles.
Direction: The strong, bold font offsets the background images of traffic, a big-box interior scene and other "busy" scenes.
Although this is a completed project, just wanted to throw it into the mix in order to get some feedback from other designers and creatives.

A quote from "Girl, Interrupted" (which is one of the best movies in the universe and if you haven't seen this yet, you have to do it).
It looks like shit here, because I couldn't scan it or take a proper photo of this.

One of the strangest sunsets I've seen, this cloud formation started as a small grey spot on the horizon and very quickly simply exploded as if the "spot" had been shot out of a wide bore cannon.

The title slides are various visuals used in order to communicate the different places where we can be interrupted by God, including at work, in traffic, out for coffee, and at stores.

The series bulletin shell uses a pre-printed color shell which is sized to 1/3 of a 8x11 sheet of paper. This allows for customization of content as well as a money-saving solution for a church that doesn't want to spend a lot on a full sheet of info.

The state bird of New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington is very much at home and very numerous in Illinois. They haven't been very gracious posers for me, though. I snapped a decent shot of a female goldfinch last year, but this is the first halfway good shot of a male that I've been able to get and feel confident enough to post. I interrupted him while he was eating the seedheads of some yellow coneflowers along the shore of Meadow Lake at the Morton Arboretum. Though he stayed around for a few shots, very soon he decided he'd had enough of me, and he flew off to join his friends.
More info.

But whose? According to the photographer (Qianying), she didn't know this guy was looking at the camera - nor does she know why he's centered and I'm not (this is uncropped). Theories abound, but the end result is one silly looking picture.
