An underwater portrait of myself. I was using model but in the end, I'm glad this is of me because I knew what I wanted and got it done quickly. Plus, I was exhausting my model, and that makes me feel awful! haha
When I was taking this photo, I had the intentions of making it creepy and warm... I was going to remove all evidence that it was shot underwater - instead a dreamy "indoor" portrait. However, as I began editing, I realized how much this looked like a jellyfish and I wanted to keep the dreamy blues. I added "cloud coverage" to the horizon and wasn't sure for a while what more to do to this photo. I'm not the type to post if I'm at all unsettled by a photo. I don't take down and repost... Sometimes I want those radical revelations about my pieces so that I can retouch, but it never works that way. So... I think I'll keep it.
Also, after editing... I realized how much this reminded me of Matsuo Basho's poetry. He was a haiku poet in the 17 century, and he wrote often of clouds and moonbeams...

going to start watermarking my images again. i hear too many sad stories from my idols on flickr to really withstand the issue ;/ sorry loves.
This has brightened my day to post. I don't like to post near the weekend because I feel it gets looked over, and I am not the most popular flickr poster in the world (haha, at all...) so I hope this brightens your day as well. I just discovered how absolutely broke I am... I have negative money! I'm lucky to have support in my life, but it caught me a little off guard to be so quickly in debt and I've been working non-stop and haven't had any rest. It was disheartening to say the least. No more free shoots or pre-paid props from this photographer. Not until I can at least afford food again. I'm already hungry and it's only day one....
