A big thank you to Mr. Paul Minaker of Minaker's Auto Parts for allowing me the privilege of photographing in his salvage yard.
I made the trip to the 2010 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto last weekend but decided to take a very long scenic route instead of the tediously boring 401.

Taken the same day as the previous image (weathered wooden fencing), this is the marquee and ornate facade of the historic Wheaton Grand Theater. This downtown Wheaton landmark that has definitely seen grander and more glorious days.
First opened in 1925... it's stage showcased vaudeville acts and silent movies. These days... it's referred to as an 'architectural treasure'. From what I can see... that pretty much means it's in a state of sad disrepair and prolonged neglect. And while I hear that restoration efforts are underway (from the inside out)... it's shabby chic curb appeal has become iconic... just the way it currently stands... as it whispers of it's colorful past.
Purposefully over-processed... just having fun on a Saturday afternoon! =)

I'm not sure what's happening with the fountain, sorry 'water feature' on the 'Romorantin Place' housing complex in Long Eaton, but it looks to be falling into a state of disrepair.

I entered this building climbing a steep iron staircase on the side of the building that went to the second floor. I had to get through over growth of vines & other foliage to enter the building. I explored the entire building, alone. Chicken hubby stayed in the car and didn't even want to step out into the neighborhood, lol This room was on the first floor, further back in the building. As can be seen it was quite the challenge to get through the building and most certainly the debris in this room.
I could be a tad off balance for exploring in locations like this lol. For the most part it was exciting to see this old place that was once a grand building where pink marble pillars still exist on the front it, where it stands today deep in the ghetto.
This photo might not cut it due to the bright light streaming in through the hole in the structure. Special lighting was not an option when it was difficult enough to get me and the camera through the building safely. lol No flash is used.
I literally had to put my camera on a plank of wood on a wall on the second floor in order to use both hands to hang on, and shimmy against the wall due to the floors being almost completely gone in one room~ where I hoped with all my heart that since the walls were standing the floor on the edge of the room would hold me as well. Can't believe for the life of me how I had the guts to explore that place, lol

And btw, I swear there appears to be a figure that resembles a man in a suit in the far window of the shot, but I have been told I have a great imagination too. This was a grand mansion at one time. Thus far, I haven't located the history of this building that stands immediately across the road of the old Waterbury Clock Manufacturing Co., which was once the largest clock manufacturer in the world. Walt Disney visited Waterbury Clock when he approved the Mickey Mouse watch that was manufactured there. So, I have to wonder if this grand building made of massive stone, with a slate roof might have been a place to lodge people such as Disney when he visited and worked with the company.
